The Legendary Downchild Blues Band - FAREWELL TOUR with Special Guest Jeff Rogers
After an incredible journey spanning 19 albums, countless awards, and 55 electrifying years on the road, THE LEGENDARY DOWNCHILD BLUES BAND is hitting the stage for one final, unforgettable tour. This is the moment fans have been waiting for—a chance to say goodbye to the blues legends who’ve set the world on fire with their music.
Can you believe it? THE LEGENDARY DOWNCHILD BLUES BAND is celebrating an extraordinary 55 years together! Time really does fly when you’re having this much fun.
As the inspiration behind Dan Aykroyd and the late John Belushi’s iconic film, The Blues Brothers, Downchild made waves on the international stage. Their songs “Shotgun Blues” and “I Got Everything I Need (Almost)” were immortalized on The Blues Brothers’ 1978 multi-platinum album Briefcase Full of Blues.
Donnie “Mr. Downchild” Walsh, the mastermind behind the band, has seen it all in his remarkable 55-year career—from recording their debut album Bootleg in a Toronto parking garage to sharing stages with American blues giants like B.B. King, Buddy Guy, and James Cotton. In 2019, Donnie earned his place among legends when he was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, joining the ranks of Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, and Joni Mitchell.
Still leading the charge, Donnie Walsh teams up with powerhouse vocalist and harmonica player Chuck Jackson, tenor sax dynamo Pat Carey, bass virtuoso Gary Kendall, drumming sensation Jim Casson, and keyboard wizard Tyler Yarema to bring you the band’s infectious, signature jump-blues sound.
With their Juno Award-winning magic, Downchild promises a live performance that’s nothing short of spectacular. This is your Last Chance to Dance with one of the greatest blues bands of all time—so don’t miss out! Come on down, have a blast, and celebrate the legacy of blues legends!
A night you’ll never forget!

about the organizer
Meaford Hall
In 1909, the town of Meaford eagerly gathered at the new Town Hall and Opera House on Nelson and Sykes Streets. The construction of this grand building, designed by local architect James Ellis, marked a significant moment for the community. As the cornerstone was laid in 1908, Mayor J.W. Horsley proudly declared that Meaford Hall would be a symbol of progress and prosperity for generations to come.
Over the years, Meaford Hall served multiple purposes, including housing the council chambers, town offices, courtroom, library, and community meeting spaces. However, it was the second-floor Opera House that truly captured the town's heart. The Opera House became a cultural hub, hosting plays, graduations, concerts, and famous speakers.
The building endured some neglect but was ultimately saved through a restoration project in the early 2000s, funded by grants and community efforts.
Today, Meaford Hall Arts & Cultural Centre stands as an icon of downtown Meaford, a testament to the town's history and commitment to arts and culture.
